Members here are SPECIAL!

I was helping a neighbor with the air conditioner in his vehicle. I started looking for websites like this one covering that vehicle. The ones I found had some of the most ignorant people posting in their discussion forums.

I was absolutely appalled at some of the stupid postings and stupid, ignorant responses. These people had no clue about the technicalities of their vehicle.

We are very lucky here at mshop to have not only an incredible group of pro techs, but also many general enthusiasts with an incredible amount of knowledge and common sense to share.

I remember reading in Ben Franklins "Poor Richards Almanac" that "One doesn't know the value of water until the well runs dry." I guess I had to go somewhere else fishing for information to realize how full our well is.

My $0.02,

I second Larry's post.
I also participate in 3 other forums (other vehicles), and have yet to find consistent and elocuent answers to car problems as I find them in this forum.
Guys like stevebfl, joe p, Larrybible and a whole bunch of other members (my mind is burned out at this point, sorry if I forgot your names) make this forum the best (by a lot) in the internet.

Another 0.02 cents.

Yessah.

Larry, you'd surprise the heck out of most late MB owners. Common sense thinking with that Texan twist. No high brow BS talk here... You need to post some pics of that upcoming GTG!

I can't forget to thank Mike T. (happy res of MI ), Sixto, MB Doc, Gilly, Engatwork and Stevebfl.

Some of the posts reminds of the editorials I read in the Cad-Lasalle Club (CLC) and Olds Club of America (OCA) editorials. That's fodder for another thread.

Yep, this forum is the best. I've saved so much money from following advice on this site. I'm not a professional mechanic, but this site has helped me with a lot of DIY jobs.

I applaud many of the regular posters, the moderators, and whoever owns this site.

As a professor of Classical Languages,

I can say that the superiority of this list (and of saabnet.com, which is also very good, at least as far as pre-1994 cars are concerned) is that people seem to have an instinct for what Plato claims Socrates said marked the wisest man in the world: that he realized how little he really knew.

Beware of those who pontificate, unless they really are The Pontiff, and then only when speaking _ex cathedra_.

Maybe the MB forum members offer more sage advice simply because of the propensity to do serious and expensive damage as a result of just "rooting around"...

Gotta admit...experimenting with these cars can empty your wallet in a hurry...and many of us have made fatal judgement calls that we rushed to share with others on this forum, lest they suffer a similar fate!

I gotta jump in here too!!! The members on this forum have saved me a TON of money with their advise. I don't post very much because I print out what advice I think I may need and place it in a HUGE binder. I read the forum EVERY day and as it has been stated above, this is the place! Some other forums on which I read and have asked advice do not hold a candle to this one. Some posters on other forums seem to be tight a$$s and would drown if it rained! Again, thanks a bunch to all here.

I'm still looking for a good GM 3800 series engine resource on a forum. I inherited a car and don't plan on spending any more than I have to on it.

Larry I agree. A lot of variety here at this forum. All the technical advise is great.
The only other forum I have found to be like this is Vintage-Mustang.com. That is another site I spent 2.5 years at, while rebuilding the sons 65 Mustang.

Larry... well said.

I would like to thank EVERYONE who helped me with my car problems since I became a member. Coming from a family that don't drive, I had to learn things on my own and with the help of the people on the forum. Each time I attempt to work on something on the car, I become more confident and learn something new. I am fortunte to have found this forum... and even more fortunate to find a group of well spoken and tech savvy people that are willing to help and teach.

keep it up!
