450sl hardtop fit

The orriginal hardtop on my '74 450sl exterior fit was tight all the way around. The top was damaged and I bought a used top but the fit is 3/4" gap at the back. My 560sl also has this wide gap. Did MB change the fit or is there a problem with my tops?
Thanks, Randy

Adjust the rear attachment points.

They can be rotated to lower the top. THere should be a little gap but I don't know the spec.
