A few boring questions....
As I was wandering through the boneyards, noticed some various accessories for sale, for W124 models. This made me wonder...
What kind of accessories was my model (1990, 260E in Europe, 300E 2.6 in USA) supposed to have? Electric windows, leather, A/C on demand... What accesories could be fitted to a 1990 model? And another one: horsepower figure for a 2.6 was quoted as 160, yet my registration card gives 170hp(125kW). What was the official figure? ~Thank you Nautilus

The european models of the 124 could have a variety of posibilities. Power windows are an option and even only the fronts. AC, type of AC, cruise control, size of battery, size of radiator, sunroof, upholstery, type of seats, power seats, memory on powwr seats, etc, etc.
The models brought to the US usually came with all the options. The only changes were consumer electronics: radio/CD/Phone/speakers for the most part.

My car has: -Sportline suspension & badges -Electric front windows + manual rear windows -Electric sunroof -Electric rear sunshade -Sports seats w. mechanical adjustment & front/rear armrests -Mechanical left mirror + electric right mirror -Becker Europa radio cassette player + automatic antenna -Metallic paint -Alloy wheels What I lack: -A/C -leather seats (and the fabric is pretty worn after 14 years) What I had found in the boneyard were a set of leather seats from an E320(worn, but still serviceable), a radiator grille in the same style as a 190(no chrome strips and a large logo) and a different style of wheels. I didn't buy them just thought to ask first. There is also a wide type of front grille, similat to that of a 560SEC, on which version of W124 does it fit? The power figure I found for the 2.6 litre is 170hp/125kW for noncatalyst models(before 1986) and 160bhp/118kW for post-1986(with catalyst), yet on my registration card appears 125kW, and I'm almost sure I have a catalyst just thought to ask more knowledgeable people... is it possible the Sportlines had also a tuned engine? ~Thank you Nautilus

After wandering through a lot of sites w. option codes and accessories, I've reached the conclusion that no conclusion can be reached (paradox ) - that is, the W124 series had so many versions and for each version so many accessories that it can be indefinitely customized, almost like a coachbuilt Mercedes from the 1920s....

Here in Europe almost never see two equally equipped MB's.
When you place your order for a new MB, you make a list of which options you want in your particular car. -And it's a LONG list to choose from. Therefore most euro-MB's has different options and accessories. The above was how you purchased a new MB in the w124-days. I am not sure this is still the case. Freestyler

They get loaded up with options because we expect it now and we can pay for it, well some of us. Still, even economy cars come with electric windows, A/C and lots of other options.

Just checked the option codes on the engine number plate here:
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Speedway/5350/mbcodes.htm http://www.bekkoame.ne.jp/~mtor/mbcodedsc.html http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/code/?lng=eng BTW my engine is catalyzed(option code 620), yet it's tuned to 125kW/170hp. This makes it only 10hp less than a full 300E 3-litre, yet with substantially lower insurance and tax costs Es lebe der Sportline! ~Nautilus
