190E acceleration

Hello all.
Does anyone know what are the stock acceleration specifications for a 1992 190E 2.3 (8valve) with catalisator from 0 to 100 Km/h?

Just to know what condition is my engine, with 178.000 Km.

Thanks!

If you want to know the condition of your engine, you can do a leakdown/compression test, and that will be pretty accurate.

However, the spec for a 2.3 8V with the AC off and automatic tranny is about 12.0 seconds, using first gear start.

Thanks, and anyone know what is the specification for the model with manual 5 spd. transmission?

As a curiosity, I have always wanted to how these tests are performed, squeezing the engine until just before the redline in first, second and third (if necessary), or searching for an optimal change point in each gear so it gives a better time?

Thanks!

In Australia, most W201s were 1.8 and 2.0. The 1.8 was supposed to take around 12 to 13 seconds to 100km/h. The 2 litre was around 10 to 11 and the 2.6 about 9 seconds. I'm sure a '92 2.3 can manage better than 12 seconds. The late 2.3 had more power than the early ones. My cat equipped '90 is good for 97kW or 130hp (no cat were 100kW or 134hp). Manual transmission should help too. I think about 9.5 seconds is more like it. My 190E-2.3 5-speed subjectively feels about as fast to 100km/h as either my 350SLC or 300TE (both autos) which are supposed to be good for 0-100km/h in 9 seconds. A fairly low first gear and 3.47 diff help the 190E (not sure if auto has same diff). My 350SLC also has a 3.47 diff but a much taller first gear being only a 3-speed. The 300TE (being a wagon) has a 3.27 diff and 4-speed. One thing I do know, none of mine come close to my father's '93 E320 coupe. Being an Aussie spec it has the 5-speed auto with a stump pulling 3.69 diff. This thing is a tyre smoking rocket off the line. I think 0-100 kays comes up in the low 7s!

My 1998 C230 was rated by MB for 0-60mph runs of 10.1 seconds. At the drag strip, it ran in the mid 8's. MB usually understates (or it used to) the acceleration times of most of it's cars.

A 130hp 2.3L 190E should make it in 10 flat, with loading the converter off the line and shifting at redline.
