Arrow 1998 E320 Interior Fan Motor

1998 E320...

It shows all but one bar on the fan indicator lights, but the fan is at the most, half speed. (Set in auto mode)

Is it a switch? the fan motor? Any ideas????

Let me know...any help would be great!

-Steve

I had a similar problem with my 1997. It ended up being my regulator. I believe in late 1997 they changed to the newer blower regulator. All you probably need is the regulator itself. On the older 1996-1997 they changed the motor, regulator and cage to accept the 1998-up setup.

P.S. This was my original post.

Fan Out

Ok..took fan out. It looks great. I see the regulator. How do I know if it's the fan unit or just the regulator?

When I spin the fan with my hands it spins, but doesn't keep going. It doesn't feel like it is stuck...just tight. This normal?

Besides replacing the filters, while I have it out, is there something else I should replace/do? Is it ok to drive the car around with the fan off, (and out of the car)?

Any part numbers? (regulator)

Thanks for all your help!

I was told that I could put a regulator from the 140 in instead? How? Is this smart to do?

So many questions....

More than likely your fan is fine. If you follow the link I provided in the earlier post you will see the regulator for the W140 is mentioned by stevebfl. It is available through the Fastlane and it worked perfectly for me.

Talking It Works!

I got the 140 fan regulator like you all suggested. Stripped the wires and hooked it up. Works perfect! Very easy to do, and save about $800.00!!!!

I called Phil up from Mercedesshop.com and he had the part to me in a day! I can't thank him enough. He is a great guy.

If any of you need parts...don't mess with a dealership. Just call Phil!

Thanks again to everyone that help!
