88 300E sunroof h-liner removal

I have an annoying loose screw in me sunroof that is driving me nuts. How do I take the head liner off to tighten the screw?

The headliner can be removed by sliding the roof back about 2/3 position and then carefully pulling down on the liner from the metal roof.

The liner is held in by I think 4 plastic "buttons". Easy does it so you don't break them. Once the liner is separated you should be able to move the roof back the rest of the way and then slide the liner forward and then out.

Look carefully for the rear portion of the liner connecting to the roof if yours tilts.

I have read that he headliner cannot be removed (easily) unless the sunroof is partly open. Can it be removed, however, if the back part is detached from the roof and the roof is tilted up?

Both of my angle lifts are broken, and the roof is unhooked from the carrier tray(?) which is attached to the cable. The cable and motor are fine, and move the carrier tray back and forth normally, except for the roof not being attached.

Please advise.

Clarification: What I called "Carrier Tray" is actually a cross member or bridge.
