source for fastners
I'm always looking for nuts and bolts to fix something broken or missing on cars i'm working on. Anyone know a source where I can get a large set of fastners (hardness 8?) so i'm always ready and don't have to make due with whatever i have or is at the local hardware store.

I hear ya. Local HW stores have gotten fewer and further between with the advent of big box homecenters. The ones that remain are often pretty weak on fasteners. The big box stores have very limited selection. Seems like the big chain Auto Parts stores would get into this game. Margins are great. I drive pretty far out of my way when I need good fasteners.
Here's one source. They are actually located sort of near me. You can even get stainless and 10.9, though they do not have much 12.9 http://www.boltdepot.com/

At our local Ace hardware store they've got a plethora of fasteners in both metric and standard in stainless. It's not your mom/pop smaller Ace store but the big, supermarket-sized one. I'm surprised at how much they do have and I've always found what I needed.
