Question What is this resevoir for? See photo...

1995 S600...resevoir located under forward cover between left and right intake banks.

1) What is this for?
2) It's empty, and that can't be good. What type of fluid is used in it?
3) Does it need to be "bled" since it's empty?
4) What is bleed procedure?

It is the power steering reservoir.

You should refill it with M-B fluid (part No. 000-989-88-03)

I wonder how on Earth the power steering still operated with empty reservoir... I've tried to move the steering wheel on my car(a few hundreds of pounds lighter) with engine stopped, and I barely could...

Thumbs up

Thanks guys. The system must still have enough in it to operate, because steering is effortless.

Can you tell me the oil part number for the hydraulic suspension? That reservoir looks low too.

The closest I could find is the PN for Active Body Control Fluid (MB ABC Fluid), MB PN 001 989 24 03 10. Hopefully, somebody can verify this.
