Question 1995 E200 - timing belt/chain?

Hi

My dad's 1995 E200 (W210?) has about 70,000 kms on the clock and since he's going abroad with it next month we were thinking about changing its timing belt. But the local mechanic says it has a timing chain not a belt.. and of course needn't be changed so soon... is this true?

this engine has a duplex chain that needs no maintenance compared to a timing belt found in VWs Opels or smilar. earlier 4 banger benzes (190E) had single chains that sometimes broke (been there) but with a duplex chain expect to go many, many more kms before you have problems.
greetings to malte from vienna
cheers
reinhard
