1999 CLK430 "Exterior Lamps" error
I'm getting this "Exterior Lamp" warning intermittently. It does NOT come on every time I turn on my lights, and I am able to minimize the message by hitting the "R" button. All lamps are working fine.....Any advice?
Thanks! |

Well, I double checked all lights. No unlit bulbs. I have heard that the housing sometimes melts? Any advise?

Remove the lamps sockets and look closely at the electrical contact plates on the lamp unit. You may see some black traces which usually mean intermittent connection (high resistance) leading to failure.

Makes sense. Thanks I'll try it!

The circuit will also sometimes detect a bulb that is about to blow. My E300 had the same condition and upon removal of the tail light clusters I found a bulb with black residue inside the glass. Still functioning, but about to fail.
