Changing Seals on 1988 560 SEL

Can anyone answer this ? If you bring #1 Cylinder to TDC and then compress valve spring, wouldn't valve drop into cylinder ?
I want to change all the seals but don't have access to air supply.
Can seals be changed without using compressed air to hold up
valves ? Vielen Dank im advance !
