Question 94' E320 No Start

I have a friend with this car and she tells me the car would not start when she got off work. She says she can smell gas when she cranks it. I would think it might be ignition related. I was hoping someone could steer me in the right direction. I have never worked on any Mersedes cars. She has had this problem before and sad it would eventually start, but this time it would not. Where should I start? Spark test? Is the ignition switch a common problem? Anything else I should look at?
Thanks for any help
JohnT
ps: This is a gas motor, not diesel. Car turns over, but will not start.

Check the OVP Relay - it's been updated and the new part number is
000 540 67 45

the relay is behind the battery just in front of the firewall on the passenger side.

I think it's just a fuse in there basically.

See if you have the updated relay though. If not, order it from the dealer.

Meanwhile, take the fuse out and put a new one in.. see if that helps it start for now.

Good luck!

*im not having much luck with mine either*

yup

i recently had the same problem

click here to view my post

as a temp solution, for me atleast i was able to start the car when i took out the fuse from the OVP (this is silver long rectangle shaped behind the battery cover) and put it back in again

i also changed out the fuel pump relay

the ovp was like $80 and the fuel pump relay was like $20

good luck,
ren
