Cool '88 190E that's been sitting awhile

I have 190e that has been sitting for about a year and a half with out being started. Other than draining the fuel tank. is there anything else I should do to help get this thing started? I had to change the fuel pump because it woundn't work. But it still won't start. Any help would be appreciated.

Try some starting fluid. Sometimes they just need a kick in the pants.

Those cylinder wall are going to be dry and it's not unusal to score the walls or even break a ring
on first coulpe of revolutions. I squirt a bit of 2 cycle oil in the spark plug hole on a car that's been sitting and then let it sit for a while then crank it with the plugs out to blow the oil out, but if you have already cranked it over it might not help any now.

Did you drain the tank and put in fresh gas? I have also found on an engine that has been sitting that spark plugs can go bad I think rust builds up between the porcelin and the steel casing also clean the inside distributor contacts and rotor.......

I changed the plugs and put in new gas. Still won't start. I'm getting fuel up to the fuel distributor but not at the lines out to the injectors. If I disconnect the feed into the fuel distributor should there be alot of pressure? I tried to drain the tank by running the fuel pump but it only trickled out at the dist. . I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem or if it is normal.

Another vote for the 'fuel filter'

You might get some help by reading my thread from last year on the Vintage Forum

Injector cleaner should clean out the FD & Injectors..........look for psfred's suggestion on 22Aug03........it was the major turning point to giving new life to my 1978 280CE

Thumbs down Zero Compression in cylinder #3

I ran a compression test on the car tonight. 1,2,4 ran about 170lbs. #3 had zero lbs. I even put some oil into the cylinder, but still got zero commpression. Does this sound like a valve problem?
Is there anyway of testing valves without removing the head? Just doing a visual it looks like the intake valve rockerarm is not coming up as high as the others. Should you be able to see a difference like that.
On another note. I am missing a sensor of some sort, that is mounted to the head above and to the right of the water pump.
The lead has only one wire and it is green.

I'd say the valve is stuck, maybe it rusted a bit and won't fit back in the guide anymore.
Official fix: Remove head and perform valve job.
What I would do: Run it till works again. Most likely it will work the rust off and eventually fit back in there.
You might want want to squirt some liquid wrench down the valve guide first. I would let it soak in real good over night, several applications too.
