Windshield Washing Fluid - Indicator Light
I have a 420 SEL/'88 and after the fluid was replenished the orange indicator light lit up on the interior dashboard. The reservoir is filled with fluid and the light is on. Is this a coinicidence or it possible to disturb the fluid level sensor while refilling? Where is the sensor located? Thanks.

The sensor is part number 126 540 10 17, should be about $12 or so. It is in the lower part of the bottle - look for the electrical wire pair going to the outside of the lower part of the bottle. Just unplug the connector, remove the retainer and pull the sensor out. It is a small float arm. Stick the new one in, reconnect the plug and go.

O.K. There are two caps on the reservoir. On top of the small cap, there is a small plug - I unplugged it and the interior indicator light went off. Is this plug the part # that you referred to? I'm assuming that if I remove the cap that I will see a sensor on the underside, correct? Does the plug simply pull apart from the wire? Thanks for the help.
