108 rubber brake line removal
Hi experts, have not bothered ya'll in a while with my questions, so here is the present issue --
I will soon be replacing my front subframe mounts per the stunningly-clear DIY piece created by Mike Tangas. As part of that work, I intend to replace the front rubber brake lines. HOWEVER, I already tried this earlier this summer when I redid the front brake calipers. Could not remove the *$#&% LF line and did not try the RF. How do I get these suckers off? They are soaking in PB Blaster as we speak. Can I heat them with my OxyAcetylene torch?? I expect that would boil away the fluid but, it's gonna be milked out anyway. What other damage can I do with heat? Or, should I just start with my little butane torch? I've searched the forum to no avail. TIA kpb |

You have to disconnect the lines at the fenderwell before removing them from the caliper. Soak the crap out of them with PB Blaster before trying to loosen them. On reassembly the lines are attached to the caliper beofre making the connection at the fenderwell. Loosening the fittings requires two wrenches - one for the fitting and one to apply counter pressure at the junction blcok.
On my 4.5 the connections were clean and free of rust, so the fittings came loose easily.
