Consensus on Leatherique

Not to open a can of worms, but what is the consensus on Leatherique? I've read the post where it destroyed someone's interior, but I have seen other postings where the product comes highly recommended by owners of older Mercedes as well...

I need something that will soften and clean the leather on my 1968 280se...it has the usual creases and a few tears and needs cleaning and softening.
