Thumbs up Factory tach and MSD 6-series boxes?

My 280S is sans tach, I picked up a factory 280SE tach cluster a while back. Anyone happen to know if I can drive the factory tach off the 6-series tach output on the box?

If not, how possible would it be to use a factory style setup with the crank trigger and tach amp (like found in the Diesel cars)?

The tach needs to divide by the number of cylinders per rev if it's electrical. You could, in theory, multiply the pulse train for a straight 6 to drive a v8 tach (that's a 280se 3.5 tach?) by 8/6 with a little circuitry. That or find one of the tachs that was installed in the 250E or 250CE in europe. A rare thing. -CTH

Thumbs up

The tach I have is for the M110/I6 car, at least I believe so due to the 6500rpm redline.

I think the 280S in question is a W116 model car and not a W108.
