Improving 4.5 MPG

Ok, you'll need goggles to keep the dust out of your eyes - and proably a back pack but it works...

Mine gets infinite MPG when parked in the garage.
If you think gas is expensive try re-painting
The 6.3 body supplies went to $1200
At least there is something remaining after the volatiles go.
Gas is still a deal compared to Cabernet.
It's more fun in a 4.5 than drinking wine (whining)

Now I can recognize those short hairy legs from Lawrenceville anywhere.

If you want better mileage, ask Matt if he has tampered with HHO yet. I'm thinking of trying it out on one of my old Mercedes Benz models to see if I can make it work.

Ha! Gotcha.

Those are Mat's co worker's legs. Mat's are top secret. But I do have a photo of his elbow somewhere...

So what is HHO?

A friend of mine is tinkering with this right now, from what he tells me, it's a method of making hydrogen inside the car using distilled water and an electrodes and then feeding it to the combustion chamber as an additive to the fuel.

It requires leaning out of the engine but the fuel gains are supposed to be impressive. I'm not a chemist so I have no idea what the difference is between HHO and H2O (chemically speaking) but it's discussed in Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxyhydrogen (so it must be true )

There are few real scientific studies on that, but I am are right part of a test with that on large Diesel trucks. I cannot tell you anything yet about how it performs (confidentiality reasons - lawyers, etc - wait 'till Fall or so). But I can tell you that driver education and behavior (progressive shifting, rpms , cruise control, etc) can do a LOT for improving MPG on those big rigs. Bad driver + good technology still equals bad MPG.

And really, it is not about MPG, but about total gasoline consumption, which you can affect by driving less too.

And it's still not near the $9/gallon in Europe

fuel consumption on a 4.5 is best fixed by
- fixing all the leaky injector hoses
- Adjusting the map sensor
- adjusting the throttle control

You can tune it to be efficient, or to be a bat out of hell, or someplace inbetween the two.
