I have used white-lithium spray lube and that works OK. I think Mercedes says to use a sitck lube and then run the top open and closed to spread it around, that is advice from 1967.

The white-lithum spray lube is also very good for putting the life back into weather stripping.

You can order "sun roof grease" from your local MB dealer. It is most likely a sythetic grease which will not degrade the plastic and rubber glides of the sun roof assemblies like most other petroleum products. I have a can out in the shop if you need the MB part number off of it.

For best results, you need to clean the runners and plastic slides before applying new lubricant. The old grease has become hard and contaminated with dirt. This is difficult to do properly with the sunroof in place. It's not too difficult to remove the sunroof to do it right. Research how this is done elsewhere in this forum.

Because of this very reason, I have been using silicone spray for the last 18 years to lube my SR sliding feet. It won't damage rubber or plastic and crud won't stick to it.
