G.I in need of mercedes shp in LA to install 4.5 engine .

Hi, I am a GI stationed in afghanistan and I'm getting reddy to come home in a short time. I am the proud owner of a 280 se 4.5 w108. while I was here in country I have purchsed a new engine for my car(E-BAY) and when i come home I'll have the money but not the time to install the engine. I'm looking for a shop in the Los Angeles,CA area that you can recommend to install said engine. this is mercedes # 14 for me.(stationed in Germany 76-85) Thanks for your help. Try Mr. MB Motors in Tarzana. The owner started working on Mercedes when he was 18 years old in his native country - Spain. He has lived and worked on Mercedes at MB dealers in South Africa, South America, and here in the U.S. He works on all models, even pre-war models.

I hope you enjoy your return home, as brief as it may be!

My biggest question is why a new engine? It's rare to say the least to hear a 4.5 died unless it was due to neglect (punching a hole in the oil pan, driving into a river etc). Have you diagnosed this beforehand or did you buy it with a "Bad engine" due to smoke (valve seals) or something else?
