Mystery Knobs ????

This is one of those things I have yet to investigate on the new 280SEC. I have two push/pull knobs under the dash. Both are very period looking. One is fixed on the far left side under the dash. The other is just hanging over just to the left of the AC unit, tucked back in a bit.

It seems I have seen many Mercedes of this era with these kind of things, they often seem to do nothing. I had a 250C that cut the ignition off when activated. I have seen others that turn on a heater blower. Does anyone have any suggestions on what they might be for. One seems like it could possible be factory?

Thanks,

Michael

Factory had option of power antenna and 4 way flashers.
May be one or both.

Art,
Interesting thought on the antenna. I don't have power windows but since I have had this car the antenna has been stuck down.
The four way flashers, are located on the dash so I don't think that is it.

Ding, Ding, Ding, we have a winner! Art, it looks like a factory power antenna. I don't have a radio in the car yet, and the antenna does not seem to work. Anyone have a wiring diagram for a power antenna in a 69 Benz? It does not appear to be hooked up. Also, if it is broken is there a way to get the antenna up by hand?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike:

Talk to Ed Ebel at Becker Radio in New Jersey. He's a great resource for this sort of thing as well as rehabb'd radios of the period.
