Great Site. I was having some problems with rough idling after the engine warmed up. I also had points burning out regularly. I ended up replacing the distributor and Constant speed solenoid and some other components. The rough idle problem has been solved but ever since the transmission sometimes takes too long to shift from first to second. This happens very intermittently seemingly without any pattern and maybe only three or four times a day. If I let up on the gas slightly it will shift. The transmission is only 3 years old. My mechanic is stumped. Any help out there

check all your vaccum hoses and put clamp on them, if it has a check valve in the brake line check that also.

Now you must remember, these transmissions in the older cars were produced in-house at Mercedes and have a tendency to shift clunky and will act strangely without notice. Rebuilt or not, it's kind of the nature of the beast so to speak.

Thanks Jim Aaron. I just never had any problems with it until I did the electrical and ignition work. Thought it might somehow be related. I'll try the vacumn hoses and the brake system and see what happens

Checked all the vacumn hoses and the check valve in the brake line all working properly. So I guess I 'll just have to attribute it to MB tempermental transmissions that they built as Aaron suggested

Problem solved. I ended up replacing the bushings on the speed selector linkage that connects the transmission to the steering column shifter. I don't know why but I haven't had a problem since. Coincidence or maybe I fixed something by accident. I'm not complaining
