Considering a '75 300D...
Hi all,
I found a '75 300D for sale by me, and foolishly thinking about taking a serious look. I've always had a thing for the w115 bodies, and having finally finished parting out my '78 w123 300D a few months ago, I got to wondering.
Anyways the car has been sitting for 2 yrs. Listed as non-driveable. But the car supposedly had a rebuilt engine put in 2002, with only about 25k driven since. Also has a fairly new paint job, my guess is around the time the engine work was completed.
My question is how are these w115 cars, what are some of the common things to look out for if I were to check it out? I'm familiar with the w123 cars, how are parts availability in comparison with the w115?
My guess is right off the bat the car will need a fuel system flush & cleaning, fluids, tires, battery, suspension, brakes, and steering parts too possibly, in order to make it a safe driver.
All of this I'm willingly able to perform without much difficulty if the car is worth the investment. Just parts availability is my main concern...
Thanks!
