W111 hood stiffener question

A friend has a W111 hood where the two stiffeners have been removed by a shop and they stopped working on the car. Now, it's his problem.

What's better, new hood or getting pair of the stiffeners from a scrap hood that I happen to have.

If the answer is that I should send him the parts, how do I get them out safely and how does he get them in?
