Union Bolt on a 1974 W115 240D lift pump
I was replacing the old primer pump on the lift pump, and I dropped the bolt the fuel filter line threads onto, I cant seem to find it, and at this point I would rather replace it. Does anyone know the exact name/part number? and possibly where to order it from?

A little help with the search...it's called a banjo bolt.
Good luck!!!

If it didn't hit the floor it could be on top of the subframe, where it passes under the engine. Might also be on top of the oil filter assembly, towards the engine where you can't see. You might try fishing with a magnet, if you haven't already.
If you can't find it ask a Bosch diesel shop if they have one you could buy. Last edited by gmog220d; 02-04-2022 at 05:20 PM. |

Found it!, put it back together now. and i got 2 glowplugs in and reamed. I'm using loop style glowplugs, and these bosch branded ones seem to thread all the way in, but they have a little bit more threads outside of the block, is this because of a slight difference in the old plugs and new ones? and will it still work?

Where was it?
Put a new one next to an old one and see how they compare. So long as the new ones were ordered for your car/engine they should be fine. |

Right between the engine and the frame, used a long magnet to get to it, Thanks for the idea
The glow plugs look to be the exact same, but I think the spacing between each thread is a slight bit larger on the new ones, so they run out of thread, but they snug up fine. |

Glad the magnet idea helped. I've had a few things get trapped in the space under the engine over the years.
