Can anyone ID this stainless rod?

Wishing everyone a good Memorial Day Weekend.
Bought this in a grouping of vintage M-B parts. 4" long, Not labeled, both ends same.

that looks like one of the little pins that goes in a cylinder head to hold down a chain guide. But the tip doesn't look right, so it's probably not that.

Next guess is some sort of hinge pin. But even that is a sketchy guess because of the symmetry of the end.

Last guess is pin like what you find inside an automatic transmission. Those little guys are symmetrical.
