w108 sunroof pads, 'feet'
I have a 1972 280SEL 4.5, and last winter I took the sunroof apart to clean it up and lubricated everything. I got the printed sunroof repair guide from the MB specialist who does all those Youtube videos, forget his name.
The only problem with was that when closing it would not lift the back side up into place. Well, after taking everything apart, cleaning it all and lubricating, it still won't lift in the back (the breakaway clutch in the motor engages before the back is lifted). So I am thinking that maybe the problem is that the plastic pads that the sunroof slides on are work/broken. However, I can't seem to find them new on Pelican Parts, FCP Euro or eBay. Does anyone know where can I get them? Thanks in advance!

I'd suggest you contact the dealer. You can get almost everything for the cars, the prices are reasonable, and even if the part winds up coming from Germany, it will only take a week or 2.

Hi, Ok, thanks, I've bought parts from the Classic Center in California before, but usually they are my last resort because of the crazy prices...

There's nothing "inexpensive" about owning vintage Mercedes vehicles. We're just lucky that the company loves their cars so much that they are willing to still manufacture parts. Of course that doesn't take the sting out of some of the prices.

One defense against pricing at the Classic Center is to join the MBCA, or if you own an M100 powered car, the International M-100 Group. Both are recognized clubs by DB and members are given a modest discount.
That modest discount can very quickly exceed the annual dues for both groups combined, making it a good investment. -CTH |
