^.3 vs 4.5 300SEL weight differential
The usually fairly authoritative "Automobile Catalog" says the the 300SEL 6.3 curb weight is 3,619 lb vs 3,869 for the 4.5. apart from the engine and transmission, they are otherwise identical cars.
I find it hard to believe that the 6.3 engine only weighs 69 lb more than the considerably smaller 4.5, since they were of similar design and alloy construction. Any other possibly inconsistent information out there on this matter?

Quote:
What is inconsistent (as noted above), is the statement that the "^.3" weighs 250lb. less than the 4.5! 3869-3619=250 |

Quite right, Frank. The correct weight for the 6.3 according to Automobile Catalog is 3916.
