67 M 129

Anyone know the " HEAD GASKET " elring part # for a 1967 Mercedes SE with the M129 Motor ? or the Mercedes Part number would work I expect I could go from their.
( I see the Gasket on line but no part number > My personal experience is that with the Correct part number you can often find the best price that way
with such a number < like the small number right on the Gasket sometimes

also I understand the Newer Type gasket has a red stripe sealing strip on the spark plug side and tend to leak water as they become old .

they may have the same Part number tho ? IE New and Old gasket

I wonder if that Motor is junk also ? was 1 of the first SE type motors before the M130 that of course has several Variants / Heads etc

Got a line on this 67 have not inspected yet but look like it might not be rusty / the say it runs good Humm I doubt it > I see Head gaskets on line

just over $200 but i bet I can beat that all to heck but the red strip has concern water leaks etc
My Guess is a M129 is practically a Prototype Motor ?

Anyone had one are they Crap ?

I think the M129 engine is pretty solid.

I have only heard of 2 gas w111s with million mile badges, both of them were 250SEs with the m129 engine.

Here is one of them:

Is it the one with an aluminum block? If so very desirable.

Not a prototype, in fact, it's 3rd variant of the M180 line of motors, 2nd to be fuel injected.

Time line is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercedes-Benz_M180_engine

They just didn't make a lot of them because the went up to the 2.8l soon after. I wouldn't worry about the gasket weep much either. Far more important is having a machinist that knows what they are doing with it.

There is another thread here from a few years back about trying to get 250SE head gaskets and how the manufacture was willing to do another run of them just as soon as the demand picked up.
