I can reach my fan through the cowl, but it's covered up by a 'hill' shaped rain cover - I guess. It looks like its made to funnel any water away from the motor...
I have read of people just cutting that piece of metal out - which if I decide it's the motor that's bad that may be my approach. It seems like it would have been really easy to make this piece of metal removable!!! I can reach in and spin the fan blades w/o too much resistance - spins pretty easily. I checked power at the 4 contact pins on the firewall and I have 12 volts - so from there to the fan is my problem - which sounds like the fan to me...

Try and jumper the 4 and 3 on the female part of the change -over switch. 4 is 12v and 3 is the blower motor.
