1973 W114 280 wire identification

Reviving a ‘73 280 w114 m110 2.8 and getting close to first start since 1986. Need help identifying this wire, which was stuffed behind distributor when I acquired car. I couldn’t locate a connecting point within close proximity of female connector. Any help is appreciated.

TDC sensor. It was triggered by a pin on the harmonic dampener. Irrelevant for your purposes, it was intended for diagnostic use by the dealers.
