Aux fan should run when the engine temp reaches about 212F or when AC head pressure is higher than 300 psi. AC operation may be temp driven at the reciever/dryer or a head pressure switch -- probably a temp switch at the reciever/dryer.
The usual reasons the fan doesn't run are bad motor (check with a separate battery by unplugging the leads and connecting the battery. Use heavy wire, it draws some amps!); bad or blown fuses, or corroded contacts in the fuse box -- it is usually a separate box on the older cars, may and may not be on 450, check the fusebox list; bad or disconnected switches. You can test the temp switch (when you find it) by grounding the wire -- ran should run. A bad relay will also prevent ran operation -- when you ground the temp switch the relay must click. In the kind of weather most of the country has at the moment, you should get aux fan operation with the AC on and the car warm and idling -- should go on and off on at slow speed (you may also have a single speed fan, don't know), or if the temp guage is reading 100C or higher. I found the fuse box connections were corroded on the 220 and had to clean them before I got fan operation, and it has to be fairly warm before the AC will cause the fan to run. Peter
