rear axle bearing

to atobaum you don't even need sping compressor, remove caliper parking brake shoes, remove backing plate bolts thru
holes in axle hub,use slide hammer and remove axle. bearing is
retained by lock plate and slotted nut.
DO NOT I repeat DO NOT FORGET TO PACKnew bearing /w suitable wheel bearing grease also cavity between inner and outer seals. It is not lubricated by gear oil from diff hence the inner seal is to keep gear oil from the bearing. Unlike american
live axle cars
I think this is true for all swing axle Mercedes
if you use a jack or such to get the axle tube close t0 level it makes installation of axle easier and prevents damage to seals
