Question 1972 280 SEL: Heater Fan switch???

I'm thinking of buying a 1972 280 sel. In the handbook, it talks about a heater fan speed control knob. I cannot find it on the dash anywhere. What am I missing? I cannot believe this car does not have a fan. It does have a fan switch for the lower AC unit. There is a cig. lighter next to the heater contril levers.

Thanks.

Directly above the stereo are four slide levers. Should be pretty evident, unless the handles have broken off. The upper left lever is the heater blower control, should be a four speed switch I believe. The actual switch is part of the slide lever assembly, buried in the dash.

Thanks Mike. I'll check the fuses and the lever control to see if it is engaging the switch.

The fan may be stuck or just plain broken:
To clean it out and spin it, you must take off the cowl. To do this, take off the chrome trim in front of it. Then take off the 4 cowl screws (2 on the driver side and 2 on the passenger). The fan is in the middle all the way down. It's pointed upwards and you can see the blades. Make sure it isnt clogged or stuck.

There are only two speeds on my fan -- don't engage until you are almost all the way left with the lever.

This lever also controls airflow -- all the way right is off (no air at all), all the way left is high speed.

The contacts are on the lever, fit into slots in the "switch" on the lever frame.

Replacing the fan is a huge pain.
