250SE Question about Options
Could a mid-to-late sixties 250SE be ordered with 300SE chrome trims? I saw a car for sale on the web, and it featured 300SE chrome fittings.. Owner claims an option, but not sure...

Well, you can fit just about anything yourself if you put your mind to it, that doesn't make it "correct" in terms of the way the factory made it. I don't think the extra chrome was an option, but I could be wrong....

What about the chrome side spear? This is the option I'm really curious about.

My folks spent about a year deciding to buy a Benz when I was in high school in the late 60's, and I did my share of daydreaming over the brochures. I don't recall ever seeing additional chrome trim as an official factory option on Mercedes of the era; it would have been way too American for MB! Their marketing posture at the time was radical anti-glitz, form following function, nothing that wasn't there for a reason.
