Question on 108 ride height?
I have noticed that my 280SEL sets a bit high (1-2") in the rear. I have the spring compensator installed, not the hydropnematic one. It is level side to side....just butt high.
It seems my choices are weak front springs or the spring compensator need adjusting (if possible) but I don't know what the ride height should be or where it's measured. NOTE: test condition are 1/3 tank of fuel, no occupants, empty trunk.

Could be collapsed front subframe mounts. New mounts will raise the front end probably close to an inch.

The 108 cars were never designed for a spring there and they all set too high with one.
I leave out the rubbers from the spring install and then put the car on the front end machine with the pins removed from the rear slip plates. I then heat the comp spring with a torch till red and it will bend. Do it slowly in steps and you can put it where you want it after the front is right. As Mike points out front subframe mounts will drop the front significantly if worn.

Litton: Didn't you buy that beautiful, nearly-new compensator?
Put that bad boy on NOW!
