Kickdown cable, modualtor, vacum leak or bad transmission. If you get the chance to test drive without the owner #1 look for vacum leaks, loose lines, slack in the kickdown (Bowden) Cable. Try and make a quick repair or adjustment to remedy. But....put it back to normal before your return car
