so on the choke, i suggest you start up the car from cold and observe the operation of the choke flap. it should open very slowly. and only open completely when the car is warm. if it is opening immediately, then something is amiss.

you could perhaps fit a manual choke kit and operate it the old fashoned way if it is not operating correctly, though such a device may now be difficult to find. 30 years ago you could buy such a kit in jc whitney catalogue or at the local auto parts store. i suspect they may not be commonly available now since fuel injection has been common for what, 25 years or more?
