BMW 525TDs..

Last year I bought a 1994/5 BMW 525TDs, 130K miles....

The Engine is perhaps the only part that is 'good'....

I use it as a daily driver. Last weekend, I got hold of a M.B. 180TE, 1986 (M110 engine, with Jetronic injection) W123. with just over 100K miles This car had been sitting in a field for around 4 years, covered in green moss and other crud and after a little 'fiddling' involving replacing the Battery and Ignition Module, it was running and drove 250 miles back home ....Faultlessly , and used suprisingly little fuel.....(I did wash the green crud off first!) For a 20 year old U.K car, the bodywork/Interior is excellent

I couldnt believe the difference in the 'Drive' The BMW rides like a piece of Crud, Every bush is knackered and rattles bangs and clunks at every chance! ...I should invest the several Hundred quid I suppose and re-bush the shed....--maybe even find some newish seats too...

Believe me, BMW parts Aint as cheap as M.B parts! (I agree too, the BMW Forums aint too good either...!)

My 525TDs, is probably the VERY WORST example of its breed Ive seen of its age!

It does however have a Very sweet, quiet and for 2.5 litre, a Powerful Diesel engine...

(Anyone put a M51 Turbo-diesel BMW into a W123?? :fork_off: )-No, I couldnt--Would be sacrilage......

The Mercedes, drives Like a REAL CAR! -No hideous knocks rattles or anything like that, No fuss, just a great smooth ride The difference in quality of the BMW and M.B is as wide as the Grand-Canion in IMHO The BMW is half the age roughly of the M.B. and shows all the signs of an 'Old' car..Worn seats, -No seat-cover left on the drivers side, all other seats threadbare and showing 'stuffing' in places The MB, with its 'cloth' herringbone shows just slight 'polishing' on the drivers seat with no tears or anything else..

Twice the age, and ten times as good as the BMW...
