Easy does it. When I accellorate I do it by feel and less is more. Only trouble with my 1979 240D, slowest car known, I have to clean the bugs off the rear windshield.

I have never had a transmission go out on me but these are automatics I have used, you are probablly talking about a manuals and a different body chassis and engine.
