KLIMA relay bypass

I have an ice-cube relay in the relay box just ahead of the KLIMA relay; it isn't in the other 1985 300 DT (Patrick's) that I saw at the Sacramento GTG yesterday. Well, it looks like a Mickey Mouse installation and not factory (I've seen a lot, done a few too). The wires from the ice-cube connect to the socket for the KLIMA. Could this be some PO's way of bypassing a fried KLIMA? Test for this by pulling the KLIMA, see if the a/c compressor still works? See photo.

Does anyone have a spare cover to sell? I managed to break mine (you can do it too -- just take the cover off, lay it on the air cleaner, slam the hood).
