Maybe you have cause and effect reversed? The miss causing the cracked line? Or a common cause to both?

A diesel mechanic said I got either bad compression( I have not checked) or return line problem. As soon as I mentioned the return line for the injector he said something abt the fuel pump being starved or recieving air thus the engine 'missing'?? ????
