Attach an adjustable bridle to the engine so you can change the pitch on the engine as you go. If you've got a rental company nearby, you may be able to find such a crane. In my case, I borrowed one from a construction company across the street from the yard.
I saw them yank a block out of an Ocean 53. First they took a saw to the side of the hull and slit it open like a can. Then a fork lift goes in and picks the engine up.

What kind of boat is that? Looks like a 60's Owens from the back.
