Yes, the fuel comes out quick, but not in a very big stream, you can easily slip the new hose over the nipples without losing much fuel. I used a catch pan and only lost about 1/2 cup total. A vice grip would work great. Get the clamp near the tank and replace the other end of the hose first so the last connection is slipping the hose over the tank nipple. I didn't even have to use the primer pump when it was time to start it up.
