Emergency actions for sls rupture

I have a slight leak in my sls hardline (85 300td). I need to take off for the summer and I don't know if I'll be able to repair this leaking hardline. However, I need to drive my car, So my question is this: If I have a significant rupture in my sls line and can't maintain fluid what should I do? I figure I don't want to run the pump if its dry for fear of seizing the pump which I assume would be costly to replace and might seize the engine too(??). So what would suggest as a sound long-term (a few months) repair. Can I simply loop the ouptut line from the pump right back into the top of the reservoir or will this damage anything? Thanks For the help, I just like to be prepared for the worst.
