Air in cooling system?

I just did a cooling system flush on my 300D. I cant seem to get much fluid in now and the upper rad hose has little or no fluid in it at idle, rev, or off. When I loosen the drain plug only a small amount of fluid drains out and the reservoir does not drain. What the hell? I tried burping it by putting it on ramps and holding it about 3k. The reservoir rapidly drops in level until its empty (its only half full) but once I stop revving it it refills and there still air in the rad hose. I don't think theres that much fluid in the system. Maybe there is and im just confused. Shouldn't there be fluid still in the hose when the engines off? Because there is only a little (confirmed by removing the hose). My sd has sat for days and has a full hose. And Ive squessed the hose on this car before and felt liquid. The weird thing is it still runs nice and cool. I just drove it around town and even did 80 on the freeway and it held right at 80 like before. Any ideas?
