It should have an arrow on the side which points to the front of the car. The raised parts of the disc have rope wrapped around the metal sleves and these are used to transmit the power from the trans to the driveshaft. The trans drags the driveshaft around, the engine runs counter clockwise looking at the rear of it, and so on. Mount accordingly and don't rely on the existing one because it may have been incorrectly installed.
