Front Flex Disk - No German writing - Which Way?

I am about to install a new drive shaft plus front and rear flex disks in my '87 300E. Based on the forum posts, I read several references to the front flex disk having a front and back side. I think the "German" writing is supposed to face the back of the car. My new flex disk (URO Parts) only has the part number stamped on the disk. No German writing. Does anyone know if there is a way to tell the front and back?

Thanks,

Jim

I certainly appreciate any help you can give. The flex disk part number 124 410 06 15 appears correct for my car. I just can't tell which is the front or the back.

It should have an arrow on the side which points to the front of the car. The raised parts of the disc have rope wrapped around the metal sleves and these are used to transmit the power from the trans to the driveshaft. The trans drags the driveshaft around, the engine runs counter clockwise looking at the rear of it, and so on. Mount accordingly and don't rely on the existing one because it may have been incorrectly installed.

Thanks, that's very helpful. The the rear flex disk also have a front and back? I think I only read about an orientation for the front disk.

Depends on the 'writing'

Some don't differentiate and some have "vorne" embossed in the rubber.

Vorne is German for front so that side would face the front. I have an '87 300D. For mine, at least, the front and rear have the same part and stock numbers from Fast Lane.

For anything critical, like these, I would write to Roy (user name whunter)

'SCUSE ME, ROY...?
