In 1967 I ran a gas station in San Antonio Texas. Had a traveling salesman come in daily with a full size Pontiac, he would top off the tank and add oil. Always a quart low... I recommended he leave the oil level one quart low BUT take a spare quart with him just in case. That was the last quart I sold to him except for oil changes. The engine would blow out the quart and then maintain that level.
