Correct. The left relay is called (by Mercedes) "N2/4 Warning Module" and buzzes for things like
(a) seat belt undone w/ignition on
(b) lights on w/dooropen
(c) key in ignition w/door open

The front dome lamp is triggered through this module; if your dome lamp doesn't go on when the driver's door is opened, the module may have failed. Such a problem occurred with my '87.

The "relay" on the right is "N40," the Instrument Illumination Control Unit. It handles the current from all of the lights in the console switches, etc., so you can dim them. Otherwise, the total current would burn out the dimmer rheostat in the instrument cluster.
